Megan and Tim dreamed of a winter wedding in Buffalo. A picturesque scene starring a healthy dusting of snow peacefully preserved with single-digit temperatures—best enjoyed inside a cozy space.
The December wedding was certainly magical for these South Carolina dwellers, but the weather didn’t quite do justice to the famous Buffalo winters that WNY-native Megan knew all too well.
“It was pretty funny. On the day of our wedding, it was 67 degrees with 20 mile-an-hour winds,” she says.
But none of that mattered—not even the power outage that made a grand entrance following dinner.
The couple celebrated with 74 of their closest friends and family at The Brickhall in The Hallow in Clarence. It was the only venue Megan and Tim saw in person and won them over instantly with its simple beauty.

“I thought it was so beautiful,” says Megan. “I didn’t really want to take away from it. Whatever we did, I just wanted to enhance what it was.”
Timeless, elegant and lit by candlesticks were the only instructions Megan and Tim gave to wedding designer and florist Sara Spoth of Beck & Forth. She elevated the space’s natural beauty with a taupe-and-black color palette.
The tablescapes were adorned with simple floral arrangements and dozens of tapered candles. When the power went out, all those candles served practical purpose.
“We had no lights, but the whole place had so many candles that it was honestly beautiful,” says Megan.
Megan’s dad hooked the DJ up to his truck for power and the party went on without missing a beat.
“It was perfect,” Megan says.
Day-of details
One of Megan’s favorite moments of the day was getting ready with her mom and sister. “It was so peaceful, and we were able to have that whole morning together,” she says.
In a last-minute decision, Megan and Tim walked down the aisle to violin by Upstate Strings. “We thought it would be so romantic.”
Beck & Forth crafted a custom installation of white blooms and climbing vines, a total surprise for Megan and Tim who trusted her to translate their vision. It framed the couple during their ceremony, then the sweetheart table, which was one of Megan’s favorite design elements with its velvet chairs and timeless tablescape.
Megan’s and Tim’s vows ended up being identical in sentiment—friends and family were shocked to hear they weren’t planned.
In an ode to their fur babies, the pair had two signature sips, “The Maizie” and “The Stella.” Guests also took home koozies that featured a custom illustration of the couple’s pups.
