Emily and Nick had the quintessential Buffalo first date: bonding over their love of craft beer at Santora’s. In 2017, the couple matched online and after exchanging numbers, Nick learned that Emily hosted a beer-centered podcast, piquing his interest.
“We talked long into the night, and it was kind of like an immediate, ‘I don't really care about seeing anybody else,’” Emily says. “We both had a mutual love for craft beers and checking out breweries and that was one of the things that we did on quite a few first dates.”
In 2022, Nick proposed at Prescott’s Provisions, Emily’s favorite restaurant. “I should have been more suspicious, but it was just a random Thursday,” Emily laughs. “I was like, ‘Wouldn't it be funny if this was like a movie and he came back and then there was dessert with a ring in it?’” As they left the restaurant, Nick popped the question.

When Emily and Nick started planning their wedding, they considered the coming spring or summer but were met with a welcomed surprise. “It got to the fall and then we found out we were pregnant and we decided to hold off a little bit longer,” Emily explains, ultimately choosing November for their celebration.
Day-of details
The couple prioritized convenience for their guests (many of whom were coming from out of town), deciding to have both the ceremony and reception at Pearl Street Grill & Brewery. “Keeping one location was important so that no one had the risk of getting lost in between,” Emily says.
Deep jewel-toned bridesmaid dresses and florals enhanced the elegant winter vibe. “The colors were picked once we knew what our date was going to be,” Emily says. “We wanted to reflect both of our tastes and were looking to do something that wasn’t super overdone and more modern.”
All of the florals except for the boutonnieres and corsages were made from fake flowers, arranged by Emily and her maid of honor. “I wanted the bouquets to be a little bit unique (and) color coordinate with their dresses to highlight each of the jewel tone colors,” she says.
The couple accented their rich winter palette with touches of geodes and crystals, referenced by the glass terrarium-inspired seating chart and agate table numbers. “Nick actually is somebody who usually carries around a few different crystals or stones in his pockets with him most days,” Emily explains.
Also dotting the venue were craft beer-themed centerpieces created with actual growlers that the pair had collected over the years.
The couple’s pregnancy allowed them to take their time wedding planning and do a lot of research to find the perfect vendors. “I came across B Sweet Designs and I’m a dessert freak, I love them so much, I just had to have it, basically,” Emily laughs. Taking their different sweet tooths into consideration, the spread featured everything from truffles to key lime pie shooters.
The evening was one to remember, for both the couple and their guests.
“A few people had come up to us and said it was the most fun wedding they’ve ever been to,” Emily says. “We had a lot of work that went into it, and then it all came together.”
