Fresh inspiration for your day: A modern take on ’60s flare
The bold glamor of the 1960s—golden accents, plush textures, bursting sputniks—may not be the standard wedding-day backdrop. But to inspire local couples to think outside the box, Lauren Marinaro of Events by Lauren Marie curated a styled shoot with a host of WNY vendors to showcase the vibrant possibility of a retro-meets-modern theme.
“Don’t be afraid to take risks,” Marinaro says. “Don’t be afraid to have fun.”
Straight from Hollywood

Taking cues from the fashion trends of the era, Marinaro kept the night on theme right down to her brides' wedding-day looks. Made by Anatomy’s Ali Eagen custom designed these short, Swinging Sixties-inspired gowns.
Design with depth

The team wasn’t afraid to play with a color pallet that veered outside the norm. Shimmery teals, velvety blushes, hot pinks and golds infuse dimension and texture to create a dreamy tablescape.
“There’s so many beautiful colors across the wheel that go so perfectly together that you might not even think about,” said Marinaro.
An ode to the times

Three-dimensional sputniks, a subtle nod to the era, add yet another layer of visual interest to the tablscape design.
“Even if you have a minimal budget, if you play with texture and layer elements, it definitely makes a big impact,” said Marinaro.
Added impact

Cascading balloon garland created a showstopping detail that shows how simple elements can fill space with grandiose character when intentionally combined. For this team of experts, the garland added a playful touch to an already glammed-up cake stand.
California dreams

Hints of tropical green tucked within the balloon garland transports the w xyz bar straight to Palm Springs. The vibrant California greenery carried into other elements of the day’s design, including the tablescape and ceremony arch.
A glowing touch

Iridescent candles along the table reflected off gold accents and tinted glassware with psychedelic and tie-dye patterns.
Groovy notes

Funky shapes and bold typography define the nostalgic charm of the invitation suite.
Glammed-up spirits

Everything about this styled shoot spoke to the era that inspired it, including these tiny flamingo toothpicks. Floating in another 1960s classic, the Manhattan, small details are an inexpensive but impactful way to carry a theme throughout every element of the evening.
