Each year, Pride Month arrives just as Buffalo is hitting its stride. There’s something about the warmth of June mixed with the buzz of a city in bloom that you simply can’t ignore. It’s sunny, it’s spirited, and it’s for everyone.
Of course, the highlight of this celebration of LGBTQ+ culture is the Buffalo Pride Parade, scheduled this year for June 7. Organized by the Evergreen Health Foundation, it will proceed down Elmwood Avenue from Forest Avenue, ending in the historic Allentown neighborhood.
While the tradition of the parade festivities is what makes the event so beloved, organizers have found ways to evolve it over the years, since the first (official) Buffalo parade in 1993.
For instance, this will only be the second year with parade categories (Werk of Art; Queen City Realness; Ate, No Crumbs; Period.; and Iconic Behavior) Awards await the standouts in each category, challenging every participant to outdo themselves with how creatively and/or impactfully they interpret 2026’s theme of Rooted in Pride.

Also new this year, the parade will include a grandstand outside of restaurant, bar and live music venue Jack Rabbit. The grandstand will be the central hub for the parade judges panel, live emceeing and all media operations.
But Pride extends beyond just one Sunday in June. Organizers moderate a community calendar on the Buffalo Pride website, which gives a voice to other Pride events organized in the city and beyond.
“I think the hope with the community calendar is that we really empower a new generation of event organizers to build celebrations of Pride, while still uplifting longstanding events,” says Jacob Marsh, a senior graphic designer at Evergreen Health and member of the Buffalo Pride Parade judges panel.
