North America’s oldest boating club is the perfect spot for nautical nuptials

Western New York’s maritime history runs deep—and there’s no better place to embrace that nautical spirit for your big day than at North America’s oldest boating club.

Dating back to 1903, Buffalo Launch Club on Grand Island quickly came to fame for power boat racing, annual regattas and social opportunities for members and families. And its prime waterfront affords its clubhouse with an unforgettable scenic backdrop, making it an ideal gathering space for weddings and receptions as well as rehearsal dinners, showers, engagement parties and more.

The best part? No membership required.

“Anyone can have their reception at a public banquet hall,” said general manager Sig Szymanski. “Only the Buffalo Launch Club offers such a breathtaking setting and background for photos.”

Its recently renovated ballroom situated just 30 feet from the majestic Niagara River—meaning guests are not only treated to unobstructed views of the water, but also the Grand Island Bridge, which is beautifully lit up at night, a bevy of yachts moored at the marina and the historic BLC lighthouse, which couples can also choose as their ceremony location.

A true private club experience, the venue only holds one event at a time and accommodates up to 215 people comfortably. There’s also a new large ballroom dance floor and remodeled 30-by-50-foot patio for hors d’ oeuvres and cocktails along the river’s edge.

To help keep the day seamless and stress-free, they have an on-site bridal suite. Szymanski also touted the venue’s experienced staff and reputation for flawless execution. Plus, there’s plenty on-site parking so your guests won’t have to worry.
