Aug. 2: Summer Splash

The “sky’s the limit” for this colorful cocktail party to benefit Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Aug. 7-18: Erie County Fair

The “Best 12 Days of Summer” celebrates 180 years with more big-name performers, thrilling rides, exciting competitions and demonstrations, agricultural education and some of the best food you’ll eat all season. Catch 2018 American Music Awards Favorite Country Artist Kane Brown at the GUSTO Grandstand, also the spot for the North American Drone Masters Races—one of only three masters-level races being held in the world during 2019. And don’t miss the limited, one-time return of the Sky Wheel on the midway commemorating the 95th year of the Strates Shows at the Erie County Fair. Gate hours are noon-10 p.m., Aug. 7 and 9 a.m.-10 p.m., Aug. 8-18.

Aug. 10: WNY Woodstock

Riverfest Park, 249 Ohio St., Buffalo

Break out the head wreaths and fringe vests for this throwback show that will celebrate the music of the most iconic concert of all time, which marks its 50th anniversary. In addition to an evening of peace, love and sounds of the late ’60s performed by local musicians, there will be beer from Flying Bison, food trucks and vendors. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and music starts at 7 p.m. In true Woodstock fashion, the show will go on rain or shine.

Aug. 10: Reinstein Woods Artisan Market & BBQ

The ultimate in relaxing shopping experiences, take in the beautiful scenery as you browse local art and artisan goods at this inaugural outdoor event that also features background music by the Buffalo Ukulele Club. Need some shopping sustenance? The BBQ fundraiser to benefit environmental education programs at Reinstein Woods offers your choice of pulled pork sandwich, ¼ chicken or veggie lasagna from BW’s Smokin’ Barrels Barbeque. Aug. 25: Komen Night in White

The location for this second-annual posh pop-up picnic will once again be kept under wraps until mere hours before the event. What we can tell you is to wear all white semi-formal attire and bring your table’s own elegant picnic with meal, serving ware, drinks and white linens. The exclusive evening runs 5-11 p.m., with dancing under the stars following dinner. All proceeds will go to fund breast cancer research and awareness for Susan G. Komen Upstate New York.
