5 clubs to hear original music
Tralf Music Hall /
622 Main St.
Another Buffalo live music institution. Once almost exclusively a jazz club, the Tralf now presents national, international and local artists on a rotating basis. One of the finest venues in town in terms of clarity of sound, too.
Ninth Ward at Babeville /
342 Delaware Ave.
A tres cool and intimate club located in the basement of Ani DiFranco’s Babeville building, just beneath Asbury Hall. Not exclusively local, but more than enough homegrown indie and alternative acts to fit the bill.
Duke’s Bohemian Grove Bar /
253 Allen St.
Duke’s books plenty of original bands and artists, in idioms ranging from indie-rock to jam-band to DJs and electronic dance music.
The Waiting Room /
334 Delaware Ave.,
The Waiting Room is a relatively new club, and it is not an exclusively local original music venue. But more and more often, dates between national touring acts are being filled with multi-artist local original bills. A great venue, and a welcome addition to the local music scene.
248 Allen St., Buffalo
The center of our original music scene for several decades, Joe Rubino's venerable Allentown club presents live original music in a variety of idioms seven nights a week.
