Nu-metal trio Chevelle will perform at the Rapids Theater on Aug 7.

Chicago's alternative hard rock act Chevelle is set to rock the Rapids Theatre (1711 Main Street, Niagara Falls) at 7 p.m. Aug 7.

Since debuting in 1999 with its freshman record "Point #1," the nu-metal family act, currently made up of brothers Pete and Sam Loeffler as well as brother-in-law Dean Bernardini), has steadily moved away from its moodier, indie rock tendencies to an aggressive and darker sound, most recently captured on the group's well-received new studio album "The North Corridor."

"I really want to make a really heavy record this time around, go back to our [2002's] "Wonder What's Next" roots a little bit," says frontman Pete Loeffler in a previously released statement. "And it's what we like to play live, so it just made sense.

"Sam and Dean love heavy music as well; Sam likes a lot of hardcore, screamo stuff, so he was happy with that. They basically let me go and agreed that heavy was a good way to go."

With a deep catalog of hits like "Send the Pain Below," "Vitamin R" and "The Clincher," the Windy City rockers, one of the more respected groups of the oft-maligned genre, should have plenty of material, both new and old, to unleash on to the Rapids audience.

Tickets are available to purchase for $25 - $30 (box office, Ticketfly). Further event details may be found here.
