For a fun Halloween treat, how about Halloween Happenings at the Aquarium of Niagara? The event will take place on Oct. 24. Your little ghosts and goblins will enjoy a fun-filled, spooky day with crafts, prizes, and fun mammal shows. The best part is kids in costume will get in free. You can check out the seahorse exhibit, California sea lions, penguins, seals, and much more. The Halloween activities take place from 4 to 7 p.m.; the aquarium is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
If you haven’t been to the Aquarium of Niagara lately, you may be surprised at what is going on there. Sure, you can still sit in your seat and enjoy a good sea lion show, or walk through the fascinating exhibits, peeking through the glass, but you can also really get up close and personal with those marine mammals.
You can, but it’ll cost ya. If you like seals, and you’re at least 8-years-old, you can meet them during a 20-minute session. The hands-on tour gives you a great idea of what it’s like to care for the marine mammals and also allows you to feed, touch and play with the seals. The fee for this program is $45.
If you prefer penguins, you’re in luck. There is also an interactive penguin program. For $65, you can interact with a penguin during a 20-minute session. You will gain understanding and also help to care for the flightless birds. You do have to be at least 8 to enjoy this program.
You can also get a behind-the-scenes tour. For $10 you can spend 30 minutes with trainers who will show you how they make seawater, how much food they go through and other fun facts. You must be at least 6 to check this out.
The special tours are only available during certain hours and are less expensive for Aquarium of Niagara members. General admission is $11 for adults, $9.25 for seniors, $7 for kids 3-12 and kids two and younger are free. The Aquarium of Niagara is located at 701 Whirlpool St., Niagara Falls.
