Tailgating is a proud tradition in Western New York, and Bills fans have been recognized for it by a national website. (Don Nieman/Special to The News)

For anyone who's spent a fall or winter day tailgating outside Ralph Wilson Stadium, Yahoo! Travel's ranking of Buffalo as the NFL's best tailgating city should not come as a surprise.

While tailgating Bills fans may adore the ritual for several reasons -- anticipating the football game, grilling with friends and family while singing the "Shout!" song, elite people-watching, or drinking before noon (why hide the truth?) -- Yahoo! praises the Bills' organization for its family-friendly tailgate in the ADPRO Sports Training Center, formerly the Ralph Wilson Fieldhouse. Who knew that was the largest indoor tailgating area in the league?

Naturally, "Pinto Ron," who may have overtaken the Elvis impersonator in popularity, is highlighted:

"Look for Ken “Pinto Ron” Johnson, who grills meat on the hood of his Pinto, makes pizza in an oven made of a filing cabinet, and cooks chicken wings in a mailbox."
