Singer Karrin Allyson, a hit whenever she has performed in Western New York, will be headlining this year’s Lewiston Jazz Festival, taking place Friday and Saturday.

Allyson, a Concord Jazz artist, has an extensive repertoire ranging from jazz standards to show tunes to bebop numbers. She has a sincere, sensual style she is able to adapt to both intimate audiences and big crowds. Her performance at The Buffalo News’ Jazz at the Albright-Knox festival, in 2007, showed her skill at conquering a large outdoor venue. She takes the main stage at the Lewiston Jazz Festival at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Friday night’s headliners are trumpet player Chris Tedesco and vocalist Tony Galla, presenting “A Night of Hollywood and Jazz.” Galla is from Buffalo, and Tedesco is from Niagara Falls, so it will be a homecoming for the musicians, both of whom now live in Los Angeles. They perform at 8:30 p.m. Friday on the main stage.

Starting at 6 p.m. on Friday and at noon on Saturday, the various stages up and down Center Street in Lewiston will be playing host to a variety of locally based performers. There also will be other amenities the patrons have learned to love, including the Jewelry Show, the Classic Car Show, regional wine sampling and culinary delights from local restaurants.

“Hot Jazz, Cool Food,” is how festival organizers describe the mix. All events are free. For the first time, the festival is offering VIP tickets with general seating in a VIP section. Tickets are $20 each and limited to 150 tickets on Friday evening and 100 on Saturday evening.
