Tweet By Teresa Sharp on Friday, July 25, 2014 6:30 AM, updated: July 25, 2014 at 11:03 am ADVERTISEMENT The Kenan Center House Gallery (433 Locust St., Lockport) will present the Niagara Frontier Art Exhibit (NFAE) from July 27 through Aug. 29, featuring 49 artists from the western and central New York region working in a variety of two- and three-dimensional media. Since 1967, this event has provided a forum for significant new works by artists from the Niagara region. The juried show features a variety of media, including oils, watercolor, acrylic, pastels, photography, pen and ink, charcoal, and terra cotta sculpture. Seven cash awards will be presented during the opening reception, including Best of Show, Juror’s Choice Purchase Award, the Sheila Whalen Memorial Realism in Drawing Award, the Julia Beamer Memorial Award and three Awards of Excellence. In addition, three Honorable Mention Awards will be given. Juror for the show is watercolor artist, Jody Ziehm. She is a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists, Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society, Art Dialogue, Buffalo Niagara Art Association and Fine Arts League of Buffalo, where she coordinated life drawing classes for many years, and the Carnegie Art Center, where she is a past board member. Ziehm has participated in many group and solo gallery exhibitions, both locally and nationally, and has won numerous awards. [She also just presented Aretha Franklin with a painting inspired by the Queen of Soul.] Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
