It took 500-plus actors and crew members, 100 locations and four years to make the independent feature film “Let Them Have Their Way.” Now the result finally can be seen in a “public wrap party” at 1 p.m. Saturday in the North Park Theatre (1428 Hertel Ave.).
Directed by Dien Vo, the film looks at six characters who try to “navigate a world in which inflexible rationality, programmatic living, political polarization and consumerism compete against desires for warmth and human connectedness.” It stars Guy Gane III, Adah Hagen, Elizabeth Oddy, Doug Hendershot III, Evgenya Radoliva and Ashley Leach.
Vo is an independent filmmaker who teaches at the School of Performing Arts at Virginia Tech and is a joint effort of the Buffalo-based Monolopolus Productions and the New York City-based Casa de Luz production house.
“This film has largely united the Western New York region; we have collaborated with Buffalo’s major universities, filmed at major landmarks such as the Ellicott Square Building and the Buffalo NFTA Metro as well as at many small businesses and organizations that make the area so unique. We have received overwhelming support from the region and I think that says a lot about the future of film in Buffalo-Niagara. We couldn’t have done this anywhere else,” said Ryan Monolopolus of Monolopolus Productions. See www.facebook.com/LTHTW.
